Sandstone Summer Theater

Welcome to Sandstone Summer Theatre…Three groups…Three Musicals…One Summer of Fun!

Sandstone Summer Theater is open to youth who have completed 9th grade and adults of all ages in Lorain County.

Participants are encouraged to take part in all aspects of theater, including acting, singing, dancing, improvisation, set building, properties, costuming, lights and sound for their production.
Sandstone Apprentices is a five-week workshop-based theatre program for Amherst students who have completed grades 6-8. This program allows participants to build upon basic theatre skills. Participants are encouraged to assisting constructing props and scenery.    Workshops in the past have covered mime, stage movement, stage sword fighting, set design & construction, Grafting techniques to create props, costumes and make-up.

Sunshine Company is a five-week introduction to theatre skills for Amherst students who have completed grades 2-5. Participants develop patience and cooperation skills and gain confidence as they learn theatre skills, such as:

-how to audition

-how to read, study and mark a script ~stage directions and scene blocking

-stage movement and choreography ,

-vocal control and singing

Sandstone Summer Theatre is a great place for the entire family!  If you are looking for a place to use your creative talents and have fun, consider joining SST. We are always looking for people willing to help in the many areas of theatre, such as, performance, costumes, set construction, sound and lighting. We believe you will enjoy this opportunity to get involved in an activity that the entire family can enjoy!  If your talent lies in planning, the SST Board of Directors welcome new board members.

The Sandstone Summer Theatre Board of Directors came into being in 1970, after a very successful summer theatre program in 1969.

Initiated by the Amherst Women’s League and under the direction of Robert Bostwick, then the vocal music director at Marion L Steele High School, Sandstone Summer Theatre was the first summer theatre of its kind in all of Lorain County!

Refundable Libretto fee for actors

Optional show shirt fee (T-shirt is free if you sell 5 show tickets.)
